Keep Safety in Mind. It will Save your Behind.
When summer comes around, a swimming pool often becomes the focus of family activities. Unfortunately, most children cannot swim and are unaware of the potential risks. There are more fatalities to young children from drowning than from traffic accidents.
According to The Center for Disease Control, drowning is the number one cause of unintentional death for children between the ages of 1 and 4. 76% of drowning deaths in North America each year involve children younger than 5 years old. 67% of swimming pool drowning deaths involved children younger than 3 years. These statistics are alarming to hear, but there are strategies that you can implement to protect your family.
1) Pool Fences and Railings
- A fence provides a barrier to keep your child safe. A self-closing, self-latching gate assures the gate won’t be accidently left open. A lockable gate provides even more security. Our railings and fences are vinyl, which have a lifetime warranty. Unlike wood that has to be maintained, our products will continue to last and are building code approved.
- Resurfacing the concrete
- Concrete will wear over time and is very slippery. It will continue to crack and break from water damage and the harsh weather. We would resurface the concrete using our Flexstone system. The system utilizes a CCMC approved, waterproof polyurethane base coat to prevent further cracking. This is topped with acrylic paint chips then topped off with a urethane clear coat. We can even add silica sand during this process to create a more solid surface. Water will glide on top of the surface and will not penetrate the concrete underneath. We provide a 10 + 10 year warranty. After 10 years, we will put another layer of clear coat on top, then you receive another 10 years.
- Lighting can improve visibility and safety around a pool. We use LED lights, which will not add to your hydro bill. Our lights can be embedded into our railings to provide a long-lasting, protective barrier.
